I created the Magpie Mail Club to be an antidote to the noise and speed of the modern world—a tangible, intentional piece of "slow media" that reminds us to pause.
My fascination with stories began at a simple kitchen table. It was there, over a bowl of mac n cheese, that my father would transport my brother and me to distant lands, crafting elaborate tales that taught us that the most magical things in the world are often the most true.
That early love for storytelling has never left. It grew into a deep, abiding passion for world histories, cultural explorations, and the languages that carry folklore across time. I believe that the world is a vast, happily cluttered cabinet of curiosities, and our job is simply to never stop exploring or appreciating it and to encourage curiosity within ourselves and those around us at every turn.
Now, my days are spent balancing the pursuit of the forgotten with the joy of the well-known. When I'm not in my study surrounded by ink, paintbrushes, and obscure fragments, I am fortunate to be surrounded by my own small, vibrant flock: my husband, our young daughter, and a loyal patrol unit consisting of a lovingly devoted dog and a truly discerning cat.
This is my sincere invitation to you: Never give up on believing in the magical things. The Magpie Mail Club exists to promote and encourage that sense of wonder in the world around us. Thank you for joining the flock.
Yours, in the quiet pursuit of the overlooked,
The Archivist
